Qualities of A Good Leader

When people in a specific workplace work together diligently, it gives rise to a unique entity known as to be an “Organization”. An organization is amalgamation of diligent proprietor and workforces where the role of a “Leader” is highlighted as he is the one who works as a role model and an esteemed motivator. One of the best definitions for better understanding leadership is, “To make a bond of obedience and fellowship is leadership”.   

Leadership Traits

Someone who lays down a road for its followers to follow the administered pattern in order to attain a common goal is what it is to be a leader. According to a renowned researcher, the art of persuading and compelling fellow workers to give their best in order to produce positive result, is the name of leadership. Responsibilities lie on the shoulders of a leader within the entire framework of body. "Moral"must be kept high which is actually in the hands of leader.

A leader must guide the fellow workers to apply their explicit capacities by aiding them with facilities and by providing them with a clear set of goals and instructions. Leadership means to have an aspiration to keep each employee in a bond fain, it means to co-ordinate amongst everyone within the infrastructure of an organization. Difference between manager and a leader is quite little. In an organizational context, workers have to follow their leader whereas on the other hand, manager is the one for whom people work. For an individual who desires to aspire and to expand business, must be having traits of both. To make the workers realize their full potential, is the most significant job of a leader who interprets and keeps the workforce aware of various possibilities and outcomes, either positive or negative. However a leader must have an optimistic approach towards goal of an organization which would embody each worker with prosperous effects and aspiration. Leadership is by every mean, more important in an organization than any other thing.

Leadership Qualities / Skills of Leader / Effective Leadership

The general construction or makeup of individual within and observable, both allude to a personality. The amalgamation of all the unique characteristics within the individual present a different and exceptional human being. Leader in this perspective is a quality which exists among few blessed people. They exhibit remarkable traits and properties in the entire working of society. Six specific qualities which are ought to be present within a leader are such as;

1. level of confidence

Confidence is a unique trait, a leader must be an embodiment of confidence as it sets a base line for work and trust. It is rather one of the types of communications which is known to be “non-verbal” which means that performance is the core objective. Making strong connection with employees by maintaining an eye contact, giving assurance to the workforce in such a manner that listeners would become preoccupied with fruitful approach is the name of confidence.

2. Focus

Focus is one among other traits affective and essential in leadership. Rigid awareness and concentration is required for successful outcome therefore a bright and clear vision is the foremost objective on the path to become a magnificent leader. 

3. Honesty

Honesty is another quality which denotes that a leader must know the consequences of certain procedural work, outcomes must be known through proper interpretation which must then be explained to the workers. Honesty also regards as letting the workers know about actual product prices and profit in an organization.

4. Positivity

Positivity is the optimal quality within a leader. Optimism leads to better work environment and power.

5. Decisive Power

Decisive Power is an important feature which alludes to the fact that a leader must be having righteous power of making decisions at appropriate hour for relishing results.

6. To Inspire

To Inspire is another chief trait. As a teacher gets inspired by pupils and then later on inspires them, so should be the characteristic within a quality leader in a work environment where one might act according to all requirements in a proper manner whereas others would follow in the same way.

Great Leaders / Leadership Styles 

The various styles of quality leaders vary from organization to organization. Four of the most important styles are;

1. Autocratic Leaders

who are mostly those who practice their power of authority on workers and employees by administrating rigid pattern of “structured” punishments and rewards. They do not sympathize with workforce and simply pass their orders which the workers are to accept without any room for flexibility. The best example for such a leader would easily be found in military settings, where orders of high rank officers are to be followed in what so ever circumstances, “Hitler” is one of the famous examples of such leadership style.

2. Bureaucratic Leadership

Bureaucratic Leadership is the second most widely known style in which a leader has clarity of rules set within a script or a book of regulations. Example for such a type would be police, which is to direct people accordingly to the law. “Abraham Lincoln” is a famous example.

3. Democratic Leadership

Democratic Leadership includes fruitful interaction between the workforce and leader. Where a leader does not stay aloof rather is selected by the society and is flexible to quite an extent for the adequate co-ordination among workers. Politicians are among such leaders. “Barack Obama” is one of the famous examples.

4. Laissez-Faire Leadership

Laissez-Faire Leadership includes such leaders who provide with extensive authority for workers, “free hand” is given to the workforce. Confidence emerges within the workers where as the leader works more like a constitutional head in a government of parliament. “Mohandas Gandhi” is a famous example.

People all over the globe are in need of somebody who could direct them, who could help them in achieving some goal. Therefore, people look towards a person who is an embodiment of all the potential traits as that of a person with vision. They rely on that person who is then made as their leader. Different types of qualities and styles prevail within a leader. However a perfect leader is one who analyze oneself for the best of workers. In any community, organization, office or be it the state, a true passionate leader would always lead everyone to a better future.
